Safaricom Named Top Kenyan Brand When It Comes To Online Videos
Fernie101 wanted to find out which brands were doing the best job when it comes to online videos. We carried out a single twitter survey that not only uncovered the best International brand when it comes to online videos but also the Kenyan brand that’s doing the best job.
Among the brands with the most notable mentions was Airtel. The
telecommunications brand had most of its mentions in the middle of the year at
a time when they were spending a lot of their advertising dollars on YouTube.
The youtube campaign for their money transfer service, Airtel Money, was received
well but unfortunately this did not last long enough to catapult them to the
top.
The other brand that was mentioned was Faiba. The internet
service provider with their humorous animations happens to be one of the best
in the country. Unfortunately, no other Kenyan brand was mentioned in the
survey, which speaks volumes on our Online video advertising strategies.
But in the end, it was Safaricom that won the day. With their
“Never Miss A Moment” campaign, they were able to show how their brand was
helping Kenyans connect with the people and things they love.
The ‘#ThisIsMyKenya’ video ended up being the most powerful
campaign yet. With the terror attacks in Kenya recently, the country has been perceived
negatively not just internationally but even locally. Everything about the
video, created by Squad Digital was perfect. The use of the personalities, the
emotion around the video and the concept itself seemed to blend in the best way
possible.
The campaign showed Kenyans that they are the only ones that
can tell the story of their country best and challenged individuals, corporate and
groups across all of social media to rise up and show the awesomeness of their
country.
